Vintage Motorcycle Club - Cheshire Cats Section

VMCC Cheshire Cats was initially formed in Summer 2012 to fill a VMCC ‘gap’ between Cheshire & North Wales Section to the West, and Manchester & High Peak to the East.

We first met at a pub between Northwich & Holmes Chapel, then moved to the Salt Barge Pub in Northwich for a couple of years.  It then became apparent that we were outgrowing the pub so we moved to our current venue (Winnington Park RFC) in February 2015 where we enjoy the choice of two meeting rooms, both with high-tech projection equipment for presentations and slide shows.

After the initial probationary period, we were granted full VMCC Section Status in late 2013 and we held our first AGM in January 2014.

We now regularly have 30-plus attendees at our monthly meetings and have a wide and varied programme of events during the warmer months…

About the VMCC
The Vintage Motorcycle Club is an International Club that caters for anybody who has an interest in motorcycles and three wheelers manufactured more than 25 years ago. All makes are catered for regardless of the country of origin. The Club is divided into local sections in order to be easily accessible to everyone no matter where they live. There is no implied ‘territory’ though – all members are free to visit all Sections anywhere in the world.

Welcome to the VMCC Cheshire Cats Section
We cater for anyone who has an interest in these older bikes in mid-Cheshire. We are a friendly and non-bureaucratic bunch and always welcome new or visiting members at a club night or road run.
We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month: 7:30pm at Winnington Park RFC, about a mile west of Northwich:

Winnington Park RFC, Burrows Hill, Northwich. CW8 3AA
(see ‘find us’ for maps & directions)

Our meetings are short on formality and long on the more interesting stuff – chatting informally about Classic Bikes!
In the summer we occasionally hold “machine nights” where we meet in the car park & chat about the assembled machines with the formal business kept to a minimum. We also organise road runs throughout the year, occasionally teaming up with other local VMCC Sections (see Calendar).

So if you do have an interest in older bikes & would like to be a part of Cheshire Cats Section, do come along to one of our meetings and say hello or contact one of the Committee members, you will be made most welcome!

Who we are…?: “The Committee”:

Chairman: Richard Whitehurst
Richard is the only three-wheeled member of the Cheshire Cats committe and is often seen on club runs piloting a chair with Gill either on the pillion or in the sidecar.

Secretary: Stephen Herbert
Stephen has been a member of the VMCC for over 10 years and became Secretary when the section was formed. His favourite brand is Royal Enfield, having owned a Crusader as a youth and now has ‘several’ in varying states of roadworthiness!

Treasurer: Phil Green
Phil became Treasurer shortly after Cheshire Cats was formed and has a large ‘stable’ including Triumphs, Ariels and even a Harley…

Bernie Horrigan
Bernie is another founder member of Cheshire Cats, and is a life-long motorcyclist, and uses a modern bike as his main transport. He has at least two ‘classics’ – a Triumph and a Royal Enfield.
